Italy quarantines a few Northern towns in coronavirus outbreak, but we don't have a fear of coronavirus: we are following WHO basic protective measures..

World Health Organization's basic protective measures against the coronavirus

We feel confident and positive

1. Wash your hands

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water when hands are visibly dirty
  • If your hands are not visibly dirty, frequently clean them by using an alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water
  • After coughing or sneezing
  • When caring for the sick
  • Before,during and after you prepare food
  • Before eating
  • After toillet use
  • After handling animals, animal products, animal waste

2. Protect others from getting sick

  • When coughing and sneezing, cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue
  • Throw tissue into a closed bin mmediately after use
  • Clean your hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water after coughing and sneezing and when caring for the sick

3. Maintain social distancing

  • Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and other people, particularly those who are coughing, sneezing and have a fever

4. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth

  • Hands touch many surfaces which can be contaminated with the virus. If you touch your eyes, nose or mouth with your contaminated hands, you can transfer the virus from the surface to yourself

5. Avoid consumption of raw or undercooked animal products

  • Handle raw meat, milk or animal organs with care, to avoid cross-contamination with uncooked food

6. Practise food safety

  • Use different chopping boards and knives for raw meat and cooked food
  • Wash your hands between handling raw and cooked food
  • Even in areas experiencing outbreaks, meat products can be safely consumed if these items are cooked thoroughly and properly handled during food preparation

7. If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early
